I'm Raizel Shurpin, a freelance 2D animator and motion designer based in Brooklyn. I bring characters and stories to life through animation, backed by five years animating for Toveedo and ten years of experience as a graphic designer and illustrator.
I've always been a huge book nerd. Reading is such a big part of who I am that I can't remember a time before I could read and I don't think I'd want to. In college I studied Graphic Design alongside English Literature, because, as a true bibliophile, I love books inside and out. I have a passion for the written word in all its forms, and that has led me to experiment with letterforms in my #raizeldesign_parshapost series and with illustrations inspired by melding literature and design in my illustrated poetry passion project over on Instagram. Lately, I've been going back through the parshapost series and bringing those pieces to life frame by frame, now tagged #raizeldesign_parshapost_animated, and it's become the clearest example of how my love of stories has turned into a love of animating them.
